This week (9 Oct-15 Oct), grey fabric market continued to hike, hitting new high after National Day Holiday. However, as upstream feedstock prices hiked too fast and too strongly, textile enterprises were still hard to digest costs and felt mixed. In later period, if the speculation funds in feedstock market exit, the out-of-control appearance will be released. China Greige Price Index this week hiked substantially this week, nearly hitting the peak.

Cotton grey fabric:
Sales of cotton grey fabric this week were modest due to tight supply and high-price risks. Products such as cotton plain cloth, poplin, fine cloth and twill were in shortage and had obvious hiking trend. Among this, prices of JC60S×JC60S 90×88 1/1 64" fine cloth (true selvedge) produced in Shanxi and Jiangsu were at 8.60yuan/m, JC80S×80S 90×88 64" 1/1 fine cloth (rough selvedge) at 9.20yuan/m, and C40S×40S 133×72 63" 1/1 cotton poplin at 9.50-10.00yuan/m. The higher offers of C20S×20S 60×60 63" 1/1 plain cloth produced in Hebei and Shandong were at 9.20-9.50yuan/m. Although offers were high, there is obvious divergence between transaction prices and offers.

Polyester/cotton grey fabric:
Recently polyester/cotton grey fabric market hiked with tight supply and mixed offers. The demand of conventional products such as polyester/cotton fine cloth, polyester/cotton twill and polyester/cotton poplin was tolerable and prices hiked constantly. The higher prices of T/C65/35 45S×45S 110×76 63" polyester/cotton fine cloth were at 6.30-6.40yuan/m, JT/C65/35 32S×32S 130×70 2/1 63" polyester/cotton twill at 9.20yuan/m, and JT/C65/35 45S×45S 133×72 63" 1/1 polyester/cotton poplin at 7.60yuan/m. The volume of high-price transactions was small.

Rayon grey fabric:
This week, viscose staple fiber prices moved up substantially. The higher prices of VSF 1.5D*38mm were at 22500yuan/mt, rising by over 1000yuan/mt. Rayon yarn prices followed to hike substantially with smooth sales. The offers of rayon yarn 30S were at 28000yuan/mt. Sales of rayon grey fabric were modest and some plants picked up offers substantially with tight supply. Among this, offers of R32S×32S 68×68 63" rayon plain cloth (true selvedge) were at 5.60yuan/m and higher offers of R60S×60S 90×88 65" rayon fine cloth (jet) were at 8.00yuan/m. As prices hiked too fast recently, downstream plants with bullish sentiment in short time dared not to receive big orders. But the hiking trend may slow down in later period.
