ITMA 2007 will also be an important trade fair for technology innovations for manufacture of clothing and technical textiles. Thanks to the numerous interfaces to other process steps of the complete textile chain, these companies will be located in the central Hall B 2, where they will show machines and accessories for the clothing and technical textiles industry to visitors from throughout the world.

In the production of clothing, home textiles and technical textiles, all textile materials must be laid out, cut, joined and shaped, independent of whether a piece of clothing, a car seat, a filter or a sports stadium roof should be manufactured. A comprehensive overview of the complete process all the way to future disposal is required for this.

Current topics in the production of clothing are – for example – 3-D visualisation for improved fits as well as virtual product development, which saves time and money. Software companies represented at ITMA provide solutions for integrated production planning and monitoring quality. Computer-supported, customised and industrial mass customisation are also gaining in significance. These require close collaboration of fabric supplier, clothing producer and textile retailers.

There is intensive work in the fashion industry in the development of an RFID textile label. Using RFID technology, data can be read, stored and changed contactless and without eye contact. This technology is currently in the pilot phase. RFID technology is extremely significant for the clothing industry, because the industry is becoming more strongly involved in textile retailing, either directly with its own stores or with shop-in-shop systems.

The manufacturers of embroidery machines are also in Hall B2 at ITMA 2007 with large areas. Among others, they include the market leaders Barudan and Tajima from Japan as well as KSM and ZSK from Germany.

More than 100 suppliers of machines and accessories for the clothing industry have registered for ITMA 2007 in Munich till now. Visitors to ITMA can obtain a good overview of innovations and trends in this area.
