As well as being home to the most comprehensive offering of innovative and original fabrics in Asia, Interstoff Asia Essential is the number one source of market and trend information for thousands of textile and garment industry professionals. The next edition of the fair, scheduled for 14 – 16 March 2007 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, will feature a replete seminar programme covering hot industry topics under three broad headings: design & trend, business strategy, and technology.

 

Confirmed speakers and topics will include:

 

·         “Fashion trends for Spring / Summer 2008 & ‘Eco-Tech Venus’,” by Ms Yuko Watanabe of IS Planning Japan. Ms Watanabe will analyse and forecast the various factors influencing trends for the next summer season. Also included in this vision are functional textiles, which are designed in consideration of both the environment and the human body, and considered to be key in the creation of fashion in 2008. Ms Watanabe is well qualified to explore this field, having worked with some of France and Japan’s top trend forecasters.

 

·         “Ecological fashion in the 21^st century,” by Ms Masako Oka of Japan. Japanese manufacturers have for some years been concentrating on developing yarns and fabrics with ‘ecology’ as the theme. This seminar will introduce these products and how fashion can best use these ecological products.

 

·         “Bodywear colour futures for Spring / Summer 2008,” by Mr. Paul McNicoll of the UK. This seminar will outline trends in styles, colours and fabrics for active and bodywear, including lingerie, underwear, swimwear and sportswear.

 

·         “Selling private labels to the US market,” by Mr. Bruce Berton, director of International Business Consulting, USA.

 

·         “How Hong Kong manufacturers and exporters face the challenge of the increasing value of the RMB,” by the Hong Kong Export Credit Insurance Corporation.

 

·         “Sensitive skin - Tencel^®, the ecological solution,” by Mr. Peter Krueger of Lenzing AG, Austria. Tencel^® fibres offer a unique natural performance. Mr. Kreuger will explore how combining Tencel’s^® inherent properties, such as moisture management, with processing know-how can result in the optimum product that nature and technology can achieve together.

 

·         “The main stream of textile development: fashion plus function,” by Mr. Justin Huang of the Taiwan Textile Federation.

 

·         “Characteristics and development of seamless garments (fine gauge),” by Mr. Franky Chan of Chemtax Industrial, Hong Kong. Mr. Chan will discuss what constitutes a ‘seamless garment’ and how its characteristics help enhance design possibilities, the production process of seamless garments, the current status of seamless garments in different garment sectors, including underwear, sportswear, casual wear and outerwear), and in which direction the industry is growing.

Visitors to Interstoff Asia Essential Spring 2007 will also be able to enjoy the launch of two major new initiatives at the fair; The 21^st Century Wardrobe: Where Fashion Meets Function, and Trends in Eco-Textiles: Fabrics That Care.

 

The 21^st Century Wardrobe will showcase ground-breaking, multi-functional textiles from some of the world’s leading suppliers in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, France and Italy. These producers will also be invited to elaborate on end-uses of their fabrics as part of the Interstoff Asia Essential seminar programme. 

 

The Fabrics That Care display is a special trend area that highlights colour and style trends in environmentally-friendly fabrics. Amongst the stands, fabrics that are made from natural and environmentally-friendly materials, or by an environmentally-sound process, are identified with a green or silver leaf logo. As a part of the main trend forum at the show, Fabrics That Care will give buyers an opportunity to see all available eco-friendly products in one spot. In Spring 2007 the trend forum will be supervised by Sachiko Inoue, a renowned trend forecaster and long-time member of the Interstoff Asia Directions Trend Committee from Tokyo.
