The 11th edition of Adsale''s expo on textile industry, ShanghaiTex 2005, was held during June 3rd - 7th 2005 at Shanghai New International Expo Centre in China. First launched in 1984, the expo is a bi-annual textile mega event, especially focusing on textile machinery. Over 1,400 exhibitors from 23 countries / regions filled up an exhibition area of 100,660 sq meters, which is an over 40% growth in scale over the last edition. Because there were so many exhibitors interested in this expo, three outdoor extra halls were temporarily set up beyond the existing seven halls of the exhibition center. 95,385 times of visitor flow was recorded in the first three days of the show, of which 6,172 are overseas buyers came from 55 countries and regions.
Ten national / regional pavilions from France, Germany, Italy, Korea, PR China, Spain, Swiss, Taiwan Province of PR China, The UK and The US had their dominant presence, supported by renowned enterprises, such as,

Spinning: Murata, Rieter, Uster
Weaving: Picanol, Itema Group/Sultex, Stabuli, Toyota, Van de Wiele
Textile chemical: Bayer/Lanxess, BASF, Cognis, Ciba
Printing, dyeing & finishing: Fong''s, Asia Kingdom, Stork, Yan Tu, Thies, Horus, Santex
Besides, there were a number of new exhibitors, including Brugman Wuxi, Ergotron SAS di Dondi Benelli Davids, H. Bouveur SA, Pafasytem, Laminage de Precision, Franz Barta, Decoup+, Calemard, Off.Big, UCMTF, Heinrich Derix Betriebsges, Poval Kogyo, Megadyne, Aquafil, Mahr Metering Systems, W. Baelz & Sohn, Hitachi etc.
To facilitate visitor navigation, five theme zones were set up: 1) Knitting & Hosiery Equipment & Machinery Zone, 2) Printing, Dyeing, Finishing Equipment & Machinery Zone, 3) Textile Chemicals Zone, 4) Spinning Machinery Zone and 5) Weaving Machinery Zone.
On-site symposium sessions were held. Hot topics covered "New Technology for Dyeing & Finishing Industry & Eco Chemicals", "Advanced Technology for Weaving Machinery", "Quality & Quantity Control for the Spinning Industry" and "Techtextiles and Nonwovens Technology". Individual exhibitors and pavilions are going to host their own press conference riding on ShanghaiTex platform. Details will be announced on-site.
ShanghaiTex 2005 was sponsored by Shanghai Textile Holding (Group) Corporation, Council for the Promotion of International Trade Shanghai and Chamber of International Commerce Shanghai. The organizers were Shanghai International Exhibition Co Ltd, Shanghai Textile Technology Service & Exhibition Centre and Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd. The show was also co-organized by Shanghai Textile Machinery & Accessories Association and supported by 13 textile industrial bureaus, general councils and corporations of the territory.
The Chinese biggest partners from Italy, United States, Switzerland, Germany, France, and United Kingdom were all showing a positive attitude on ShanghaiTex 2005 to the journalist from Texindex.com. It was the first time that Texindex met people from SWISSMEM and British Textile Machinery Association. Meeting Dr. Lukas Sigrist, Secretary General of Textile Machinery Division of SWISSMEM, was a challenging job, as there were so many journalists were list in the interviewing schedule. Fortunately I got him finally. It was really a pleasure to talk to this gentleman. He said that almost 99.9% of Swiss textile machinery was export-oriented, in which 40% were exported to China. The China government has given all their sincere welcome to foreign companies, providing them an ease policy. Except for the competition from its counterparts, there are no big problems Swiss companies have come across in China. Mr. Alan Little, Director of British Textile Machinery Association, seemed as happy as Dr. Lukas Sigrist. The British gallery happened to be in front of Texindex’s. Therefore, it’s easier for me to find the right person. Mr. Alan Little was an amiable gentleman. He was so happy that their members were exhibiting at this fair and there were so many professional visitors. When I explained how Texindex built partnership with international organization, he looked exciting and immediately gave me a very positive answer.
As one of the most famous media supporting ShanghaiTex 2005, Texindex.com showed its highlights at Booth 6J75, with the neighbor British Textile Machinery Association. It is always active in the biggest international trade fairs, participating in almost 20 in the globe. At these fairs, it delivers its members'' highlights to global buyers.
